On July 7, all residents of the Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD), including Duncan and Lady Smith, were asked to comply with stage 2 water restrictions, due to concerns over low snow pack, low rainfall and a projected dry summer.

BLUE-GREEN ALGAE BLOOM AGAIN
Alberta Health Services issued the year's first blue-green advisory on June 20 for Lake Isle located northwest of Edmonton. Blue-green algae or cyanobacteria produce a toxin (poison) that can cause serious illness to animals or humans who drink or have skin contact with water containing this toxin.
